Legendary classical singer Mehnaz Begum is no more
Renewed classical singer Mehnaz Begum died in Bahrain. Mehnaz was staying in Bahrain for a short visit and was on her way to US for further medical treatments. Mehnaz was the most prominent singer of Pakistani film industry of 70s and 80s era along with Ahmed Rushdi, Runa Laila, Mala and Naheed Akhtar etc . She was the daughter of classical singer Kajjan Begum. Celebrated poet Ahmed Faraz have dedicated his famous ghazal ‘Jana’ to Mehnaz Begum for singing it beautifully.
She has sung a hundreds of hit songs and ghazals in her career. Her fan still remembers her hit numbers such as ‘Mujhe Dil Se Na Bhulan’, ‘Ab Kay Tajdeed E Wafa Ka Nahi Imkaan’ and ‘Mein Jis Din Bhula Doon Tera Peyar Dil Se’. She preferred ghazal, thumri, khayal, dadra and drupad. She is also known for presenting salam, marsiya and noha during Ramadan and Muharram. RIP Mehnaz Begum, thank you for mesmerizing us with your beautiful voice.
