More Police & Rangers on Sharmila Farooqi party than Abbas Town
Abbast Town bomb blast has not only jolted Karachi but the whole country was shaken. Pakistan was still mourning Quetta massacres that targeted Shia Hazaras community, the huge bomb goes off in Abbas Town killing at least 50 people and injuring 200 people. The explosion has completely destroyed the buildings surrounding the blast site. At the time of explosion, a Sharmila Farooqi’s dinner party was underway at beautiful Mohatta Palace Karachi. The dinner was hosted for celebrating Sharmila Farooqi’s engagement with Hasham Riaz. Heavy Police and Rangers contingents were deployed across 1 km radius of Mohatta Palace, situated in Clifton area of Karachi, to secure VVIPs attending the Sharmila Farooqi’s dinner party.
Even after hours of bomb blast, no Sindhh administration, Police or Rangers officials bother to rush Abbast Town site to take control over the situation. Charity organizations like Edhi Foundation, Chhipa and other rush to the site as usual to provide assistance to blast victims. Ordinary people also joined blast victim to clear the ruble and rescue people. Incidents of theft and robberies were also reported as miscreants took advantage of unsecured blast area and panic.
It is the worst example of being indifference and lack of apathy where all big names of Sindh administration and political leadership continued enjoying Sharmila Farooqi’s dinner party, while Abbas Town burned in fire. The Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah was also among the guest enjoying Sharmila Farooqi’s party delusions food and company, under heavy security, while blast victims waited for hours for government machinery for help.
Whenever any events like Sharmila Farooqi’s dinner party or wedding is hosted in Karachi or elsewhere, Police and other law enforcing agencies are deployed on the venue to secure politicians and VVIPs. Similarly on March 3, 2013, the personnel were called from various Police stations from Karachi to beef up the security at Sharmila Farooqi’s post-engagement party leaving rest of the city vulnerable for terrorist attacks.
