Pervez Musharraf returns to Pakistan
Pakistan ex-president General Pervez Musharraf returns to Pakistan from self imposed exile. He vowed to save Pakistan from growing extremism, irrepressible corruption and lack of governance. His political party All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) has planned a public rally in Karachi on its arrival; where Pervez Musharraf was due to address his followers and party worker. But this rally was cancelled due to security threat from Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) by the city administration.
Pervez Musharraf has hold a press conference at Dubai before his departure and said that he is a soldier and he is not afraid from any threats. What role Pervez Musharraf will play in coming elections and afterwards is still unclear. His party is still in its early stages and do not enjoy strong political backing as such. During his tenure, Musharraf had formed government by shaping Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-e-Azam) (PML Q) and with the help of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) and others. But current political scene is entirely changed. Growing popularity of Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is going to make its presence felt in coming elections. Similarly, Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) with its Metro Bus project and Free Laptop scheme is trying hard to swayed voters in Punjab.
Pervez Musharraf strategy will unfold in coming days as election draws closer. Let see what General Saheb do this time.
