Pervez Musharraf avoids arrest and escape to Chak Shahzad farmhouse
Drama continues as former president and army chief General (Retd.) Pervez Musharraf rush out of packed courtroom to avoid arrest. Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui had cancelled the bail application of Pervez Musharraf from “Judges’ Detention Case” and ordered his arrest. Police deployed around the courtroom remained unmoved as private guards of Pervez Musharraf escorted him out safely to his bulletproof SUV and went away to his secured Chak Shahzad farmhouse. But rest assured that there is more drama to unveil today as Court will take notice of the aftermath of its orders and police reluctance to arrest the former president and army chief.
Election season has already started and Musharraf courtroom battle will certainly provide more masala to it. Earlier Pervez Musharraf’s nomination paper were rejected form all four constituencies he had applied for. Although, his lawyer have vowed to appeal to Supreme Court against his rejection, but current proceeding at Islamabad High Court is perhaps hinting the outcome of any such appeal. According to media reports, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and Station House Officer (SHO) of Shehzad Town have met the former president at his posh Chak Shahzad farmhouse but didn’t arrest him. Currently, Pervez Musharraf’s farmhouse is heavily guarded by Police and Rangers. News was also circulating to place Musharraf under house arrest. But for placing him under house arrest, the matter is to be presented to judicial magistrate.
