Dr. Farooq Sattar ask for DHA and Clifton residents support
Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Deputy Convenor Dr. Farooq Sattar has residents of DHA and Clifton areas to raise their voice against forces of intolerance and terrorism. He was addressing to people living in NA 250 constituency that include posh and slum areas of DHA and Clifton. This constituency is partially includes posh Karachi neighborhoods who are affluent, educated and liberals; while it also include slum areas of multicultural ethnic vicinity. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) is expected to give tough competition in NA-250 in coming elections.
MQM is one of the few political parties that have openly raised voice against growing terrorism in Pakistan led by entities like Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). TTP has warned people of Pakistan to stay away from upcoming General Elections due on May 11, 2013. Television host turned politician Khushbakht Shujaat will be contesting from NA 250 seat; who also won 2008 election (52,045 votes) defeating PPP’s candidate Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig (44,412 votes). But this time around her biggest rival will be Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) candidate Dr. Arif Alvi. This would be interesting constituency of Karachi where real competition between MQM and PTI is expected.
