Twin Blast near MQM Azizabad 90 (Nine Zero) office
Two bomb went off near the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)’s 90 (Nine Zero) Office, in Azizabad Karachi, killing at least 3 people and injuring 40 others. The second blast occurred 20 minutes after the first blast when people rushed to first blast site for help. Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claim the responsibility of the blast. Recent weeks have witness increased attacks on election offices of MQM, Awami National Party (ANP) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) across Karachi, Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
MQM, ANP and PPP have joined hand against the extremist attacks and declared it as a conspiracy to postpone Pakistan General Election due on May 11, 2013. MQM have also appealed people to observe Sunday May 5th as peaceful day of mourning of Azizabad blast and shutdown business across Karachi and Sindh. Wasay Jalil, member Rabta Committee, have condemned the attacks near 90 (Nine Zero) office and reiterate MQM stance of not boycotting the election. He said that people will cast their vote against the extremism forces like TTP on May 11th. But the worsening security situation and bomb blasts is expected to keep people away from polling stations. Campaigning and political activities are also hampered due to this security risk.
