Fauzia Kasuri hopes for PTI reserved seats quashed
Elections are far from over. National Assembly may have taken oath but activities for maneuvering women’s reserved seats is still on full swing. Leaders of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PMLN) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have nominated their wives, daughters and close relatives for the women’s reserved seats. But the real controversy was created when Imran Khan ignored the name of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) founding member Fauzia Kasuri. Fauzia Kasuri is not only the founding member of the PTI but also a die heart supporter who has always stood by Imran Khan since party’s inception. But Fauzia Kasuri is not the only one complaining; Saloni Bokhari has also joined her demanding the same.
The controversy started when senior PTI leaders Dr. Shireen Mazari and Munazza Hasan were selected for women’s reserve seats from Punjab. According to media reports PTI’s chairperson Imran Khan has finalized the women reserve seat nomination after consultation from all members of Central Executive Committee. The final list in order of priority was Dr. Shireen Mazari, Munazza Hasan, Ayla Malik and Dr. Yasmin Rashid. PTI sources say that since the party has not secure enough seats in National Assembly, they had ended up getting lesser women’s reserve seats. But Fauzia Kasuri says that her long association and support for PTI should have taken into consideration before finalization of list priority.
