Danish Nawaz has comedy in his blood
Pakistani television channels are flooded with comedy sitcoms. Most of them are run of the mill formula comedy program that usually doesn’t make us laugh. To make thing worse, these sitcoms are badly written with poor direction. Even good actors can’t do much with their acting if the script is not funny. But there is one actor, who has comedy in his blood and has the rare ability to make even average written script sounds funny with his spontaneous acting. Meet Danish Nawaz, the actor, director and host. Danish belong to a family whose bread and better is television. He is the son of veteran television actor late Fareed Nawaz Baloch. His elder brother Yasir Nawaz is also an accomplished actor and now a successful television drama director. His sister in law actress Nida Yasir (Pahsa) is a successful and popular morning show host.
The family background must have helped Danish Nawaz polish his acting abilities. But comedy comes naturally to Danish. His spontaneity and expressions are simply brilliant. Unlike his contemporaries, he never over-do his part to make his role dragging. He was hugely popular in Geo TV’s “Nadaaniya” directed by his brother Yasir Nawaz. The show cast also included Yasir Nawaz and his wife Nida Yasir (Pahsa).
Recently his directed sitcom “Larka Karachi Ki Kuri Lahore Di” on Express Entertainment was well received by Pakistani TV audience. The drama was mostly shot in Lahore with a big cast that includes Ashraf Khan, Nargis Rasheed, Shaista Jabeen, Asma Abbas, Nadia Afghan, Jan Rambo, Iftikhar Thaku, and Danish Nawaz. Script was written by Ghazala Naqvi was not that hilarious but cast have played their part fantastically to make the play bearable. Danish should be careful in picking script writers for his future plays as it would ruin his well build name and his fans expectations. Danish Nawaz is indeed one of the few actors how can do comedy with seriousness that it deserve.
