Sana Bucha resigned from Geo News over Dr. Aamir Liaquat
News Anchor Sana Bucha has officially resigned Geo TV due to unresolved difference with news channel management. The news of her resignation was reported by Journalism Pakistan website. Sana has made quite a name for her political talk show ‘Lekin’ on Geo News in very short span of time. Earlier she has protested and decided to quit Geo News on rehiring of controversial of Dr. Aamir Liaquat; but Geo management had persuaded her to change her mind and stay. It was reported that when Geo TV offered Dr. Aamir Liaquat to host a show on recently attacked young blogger and education activist Malala Yousufzai, Sana decided to call it a day and decided to left Geo News. But still there is no official word out from Sana Bucha about the real reasons of leaving Geo News. Dr. Aamir Liaquat may have a strong following in lower middle and middle class audience who can be easily swayed away by religious overtone. But rest of the mature and educated television audience considered him nothing but a bearded scumbag.
Sana Bucha’s decision of quitting Geo News Network over Dr. Aamir Liaquat will be applauded by the segment of journalism community and general public who still believes in ethical values and principles. Dr. Aamir Liaquat often spreads hatred and negativity through his so called religious programs. He often entice his emotionally charged audience during sensitive situations like publication of insulting cartoons of Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) or controversial movies/videos related to Islam. He is also accused of enticing killer of an Ahmadi who was allegedly killed the innocent man following the airing of one of his shows. It was also reported that Sana Bucha will be joining Dunya News and will be getting 10 pm prime time slot. While departing Geo News, Sana tweeted after quitting her job “I left geo coz of geo, not for any other channel. Where I go next is step 2.”. Well Sana, we salute you for standing up for something that you believes in, thumbs up! Sana Bucha’s departure is certainly a big loss for Geo News who has lost one of its key anchors.
