Karachi Literature Festival (KLF) Returns
Karachi Literature Festival (KLF) is back to quash the thirst of literature lovers in Karachi. Two day event assemble and celebrates Pakistani and international authors writing in languages such as Urdu, Sindhi, Punjabi, English, German and French. The event is FREE and open to all.This year the event will showcases lectures, debates/discussions, creative writing workshops, Mushairah (Urdu poetry jam, book launches, book fair, readings, interactive story-telling for children, signings, music & theatre performances, and much more. So, don’t waste your weekend at home, come experience the Karachi Literature Festival 2012.
Tremendous Growth of KLF
KLF was founded by Ameena Saiyid OBE and Asif Farrukhi, and organized by the British Council and Oxford University Press. KLF was launched back in 2010 and since then manages to earn a reputation of its own and grown rapidly. The attendance of literature lovers got doubled from 5,000 in 2010 to almost 10,000last year in 2011. This year organizers are expecting huge audience. During the first year (2010), the festival hold 2 sessions featuring 35 programmed participants. Last year (2011), manages to 4 sessions that featured impressive 97 participants. This time around KLF is expecting 145 programmed participants.
