Wanna watch a movie? Come to Atrium Cinemas, the Pakistan’s first Digital 3D Cinema. The opening of Atrium Cinema is a breath of fresh air for all movie lovers in Karachi. Up till now, the only available option to watch a movie was going to old and obsolete Cinemas that are most located in the vicinity of M.A. Jinnah Road. These theaters were built during the golden era of Pakistan Cinemas during 60s and 70s. With the advent of VCR in 80s and stringent policies of Zia-ul-Haq regime, the Pakistan film industry started to deteriorate. Lack of government interest and slow departure of educated and creative film directors and producers was the major reason of the industry decline.

Consequently, the cinema business also took a nosedive and many cinemas were converted to shopping plazas & apartments during last thirty years or so. In recent years, permission to screen Indian movie provided some revenue stream for the cinema owners and bring back some of the audience. But audience had to put up with erratic screens and bad atmosphere. These cinemas still run movies on obsolete projectors that have patchy resolution. The facilities were never renovated by their owners. Broken seats, bad cooling and faulty screen pretty much sum up the whole thing.

It is located in Saddar, Karachi behind Avari Towers and near Zaniab market. The Atrium management constantly update their website with movie schedules and updates. The opening of Atrium 3D Digital Cinemas in newly opened shopping mall with food court is indeed a treat for all Karachiites. It is certainly a kind of entertainment long missing in Karachi.
