Hina Rabbani Khar told that NATO recognizes Pakistan’s efforts
Pakistan has suffered tremendous loss of innocent civilian lives in addition to worsening of security situation and ailing economy since its decision to join US led war against terrorism. But irony, it is not often that US or NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) acknowledge this fact and recognizes Pakistan efforts for being the frontline state that is working against the terrorism and also conceding civilians’ casualties in drone attacks and terrorist atrocities. But recently NATO head Anders Fogh Rasmussen told foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar that NATO acknowledge that Pakistan has paid high price for its efforts. And he further added that alliance stands with Pakistan to combat terrorism.
Foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar would be certainly pleased to hear Rasmussen remarks, but she would be hoping that these comments should be more demonstrated in form of cooperation and support that Pakistan and its armed forces need to combat terrorism. Hina Rabbani Khar has repeatedly expresses Pakistan intention that it want to see a peaceful and stable Afghanistan that is also beneficial for the region and the people for war torn Afghanistan. Hina Rabbani Khar also met NATO’s government body where official stressed that Pakistan inclusion is very important to establish political dialogue that can lead to long term peace and stability in the Afghanistan and the region.
Hina Rabbani Khar is also due to meet US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton at alliance headquarters in Brussels. US need Pakistan support to ensure that its plan to withdraw its troops from Afghanistan by 2014 goes as planned. Hina Rabbani Khar is holding a very important portfolio that not only impact Pakistan’s relation with the international community but also affects Pakistan internal security.
